Our first time here to celebrate our anniversary and we’ll be back to celebrate a fine meal with great service and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere anytime and soon! We appreciated Amy’s friendly service and Chef taking the time to chat. The food is unreasonably delicious and beautifully presented. This restaurant ranks as good as some Michelin restaurants we’ve been to throughout Europe and better than some! The prix fixe 3-course at $78 is well worth it. We loved everything! Super stand outs were the steak frites, lobster foie gras creme brûlée, lemon pie in a jar and the peach tart. Looking forward to our next visit!
My friend and I decided to try out this place on a whim, as we're two young men who enjoy a fine meal and had no plans, and I am absolutely delighted to say this was the best culinary experience I have ever had. From the absolutely delightful wine recommended to me by our server, to the quiet atmosphere, everything about this restaurant was amazing. The food was absolutely phenomenal, the best I've ever had. I even tried escargot for the first time, and I loved it. Every dish was a masterpiece. I felt like Frasier would've been proud of me for going. Nothing negative to say about this place, I felt it was well worth the money and it was just exquisite. I will absolutely be returning.
Dinner at Bistro de Margot was a dining experience I will talk about forever. This is fine dining that isn’t stiff or pretentious; it’s excellent cuisine, served with care and love for the craft. Chef Hervé Mahé, you are an artist in what you do. I’m not a ‘picky’ eater, but I recognize what is, and isn’t good. As someone who has never, ever found a restaurant that can prepare and serve a steak to my liking, I was nearly brought to tears by the excellent Steak Frites that were prepared for me tonight. Tender, juicy, magnificent. My fiancé and I recommend doing the three course dinner. While it may seem like a large meal, every course was perfectly proportioned and sat light, with attention to flavor balancing and beautiful presentation. Thank you to our wondering waitress, Anna, and the rest of the excellent staff running this bistro, we had an excellent evening!
There are few things in this world that I would drive 4 hours for; a meal at Bistro de Margot is now on that list of few things. Every dish served for my fiancée and I were simply incredible, she has never enjoyed a steak anywhere else, and that speaks volumes to the perfection that was each dish. From the presentation to the quality and taste it has so far been the single most enjoyable dining experience we have had to date. It was a true delight to meet Chef Hervé at the end of our meal and really speaks volumes to the enthusiasm and effort he brings to the culinary experience he has cultivated here. We will be back :)
Bistro de Margot is truly a gem. We have dined at restaurants through the U.S. and Europe, and Bistro de Margot remains our favorite place to dine. Chef Herve and his staff are superb, and the food is always excellent. His classic French dishes are always perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The space is elegant but the atmosphere is always welcoming and comfortable--never stuffy. We are so fortunate to have this truly authentic French restaurant so nearby, and we are grateful to Chef Herve and his excellent staff for making our recent visit (on June 25th) so enjoyable--as always.
Excellent French restaurant. Pricey but great food and service for a special night that we thoroughly enjoyed. We had the steak frites and duck - both cooked perfectly. Peach tart and sorbet for dessert.
We were greeted warmly and seated promptly at this quaint French restaurant. Although small, it was nicely decorated with comfortable spacing for conversation. Our servers Clara and Maddie were very friendly and helpful. We chose the very reasonable price fixe dining option which allowed 3 selections off the standard menu unlike a more limited menu as in most restaurants. We started with the tomato heirloom salad and the smoked scalloped carpaccio. The food was delicious, not too salty and not overpowering either. Chef Hervé personally came to make sure we were happy. There were great seafood options unlike most French cuisine and our halibut was delightful. The housemade sorbet made for an excellent finish with unique flavors of raspberry jalapeño and apricot basil to satisfy the palate. When visiting Burlington, VT Bistro de Margot is a must … bravo!
Chef Herve is so personable and makes an amazing culinary experience. The ambience in his restaurant is calming and condusive to trying his French menu. He has something new and fresh and his sommelier pairs the wines to the dishes and to your tastes. We always enjoy ourselves for our date nights at Bistro.
We tried Bistro de Margot for the first time last night and had a lovely experience. Our waitress was incredible. She was the only one there (including making drinks and acting as hostess) and you did not sense an ounce of stress or rush in her presence. Every course was incredible. Chef Herve delivered our main course which was a special treat. At the end of our meal he came out to check on us and we had a lovely conversation with him for 15 or so minutes. It is clear this restaurant is his passion and he cares deeply about making his guests feel like family. He even told us he closes the restaurant when he travels because he does not want to miss any experience with his guests while he is gone. Anyway…. I HIGHLY recommend if you are looking for amazing food, but also a great overall dining experience.
Hidden Gem in Burlington! What a fantastic experience at Bistro de Margot! From the moment we walked in, it was clear that Herve is 100% dedicated to his passion and it shows in every detail. We enjoyed a lovely dinner with our family, and everything exceeded our expectations. The food was more than excellent, beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and clearly made with high quality ingredients. The service was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond what we anticipated. This is the kind of authentic, heartfelt dining experience that makes you want to come back again and again. Every penny was well worth it. Highly recommend Bistro de Margot for a special night out or a memorable family meal. We will definitely be returning soon!
